Battery Park City Esplanade, Asphalt and Granite Remediation Project

As part of this park Task Order assignment, Elite’s role of Construction Manager required the supervision of asphalt and granite inspections and repairs for the Battery Park City Esplanade.

The Esplanade is an extensive walkway lined with gardens and public art that runs the entire length of Battery Park City, along the Hudson River from Stuyvesant High School on the north end all the way south to Historic Battery Park. The upper walkway is reserved for pedestrians, with the lower walkway accommodating bikes, skateboards and rollerblades. Work site areas were diverse and included pavilions, parks, gates/entrances, sea walls, marinas, memorials, and street ramps.

Elite Construction managed the replacement and remediation of 14 locations, some of which required masonry reconstruction, paver relocation and replacement, and replacement of various sections of guardrails along the paths and sea walls. The scope also included management of the various contractors, as well as careful coordination of highly traveled areas during the busy spring/summer season.
