NYS Parks Jones Beach State Park, NY | Energy & Nature Center
As part of a public-private partnership (of PSEG Long Island, the Long Island Power Authority, New York Power Authority and private donors), the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is building a new 12,000 SF facility comprised of exhibition halls, multi-purpose rooms and classrooms.
The Net Zero Center will educate visitors of all ages how to use energy wisely and conserve water. Interactive hands-on-exhibits and programs highlight Long Island’s ecosystems, demonstrate how electricity is generated, and showcase renewable power sources. Also included in the project, is a 218.5 acre designated Park Preservation Area that serves to protect the significant maritime coastal habitat.
Scope of work includes new utilities (electric, water and sanitary), erosion control, survey stakeout, earthwork, excavation and grading to construct building foundations, pile and foundation installation, and sitework reconfiguration for a new access road and parking.
